If you want a quick and easy breakfast that you can carry anywhere, stress no more. This overnight oatmeal does not only look so  pretty but also very healthy. There are several flavor combinations that you can make. Sky is the limit. You can make your your own version. You can mix the chia, oat and yogurt mixture a night before then add the fruit in the morning, or you can refrigerate the fruit overnight with the oatmeal mixture. Whatever you decide, you will be treated with a convenient and healthy breakfast.

I have been eating this not only for breakfast but also for dinner. It is so filling that you  that you feel like you are cheating on your diet. There is a mixture of sour and sweet flavor due to the fruit, yogurt and the syrup. I like mine that way. You can experiment and create your own flavor.

EAT MORE FOOD

F- fruits and veggies
O- organic lean proteins
O- omega 3 fatty acids
D - drink water

Remember when I was jumping up and down and doing my happy dance to celebrate my weight loss? check here. I guess I celebrated too early. Last Thursday, I went to my doctor for my annual physical check up. Although I lost some weight, the blood work result came back and my bad cholesterol was way too high. The normal number for bad cholesterol is 199 and mine is 210. Actually, this is not really a surprise because my bad cholesterol a year ago was 270. So I guess my weight loss did help to lower my numbers.

Just what is Cholesterol?

According to Live Science, Cholesterol is  a waxy material which is produced naturally by the liver. There are two kinds of cholesterol the HDL( High Density Lipoprotein) and LDL (Low Density Lipoprotein). HDL is the angel/good  cholesterol and the LDL is the evil/bad one. We need more HDL in order to lower LDL. When LDL is too high, there is a chance that deposits are form in our vessels which will eventually become  plague. The plague can cause the blood vessels to become narrow which make it difficult for the blood to circulate  towards the heart. Bad cholesterol can cause a heart attack. The only way to know your numbers is to have blood check. Note: My summary is very limited. Please check the link.
Since my results are not good, the doctor told me to exercise more and watch my diet. I have to limit eating eggs  and meat. I can eat chicken without skin and I have to eat more on more fibrous grains like oatmeal, brown rice and eat more fruits.I also have to go back for another check up in three months.

I really want to be healthy and I want to lower my heart attack risk, so I am making a promise to myself with you my friends as my witness. I AM GOING TO GET HEALTHY AND I AM GOING TO LOWER MY LDL. How should I do that? I am going to listen to the doctor. I am going to exercise harder and eat healthier. To be honest, I really thought that my food intake is already healthy. But you see, I am good with my diet during weekdays and when I have my diet break during the weekends, that is when I binge on Chinese food. So pretty much the hard work I put in throughout the weekdays are useless. I promise to put a stop on this weekend binges and I'll exercise more. I am going to update you about my routine once a week for three months. Right now, I am 122 lbs. My desired weight for my height is 100 to 105. So, I am making my promise to you now. Ok. let us shake our hands on this. Now this is sealed. There is no more turning back...

In lieu with this plan, I am going to start our week with his skinless chicken breast - grilled and marinated. It also goes perfectly with cucumber salad to make this meal excellent. You can pair it with rice or eat alone.Whatever you decide, you will enjoy this meal.

  1. 1/4 cup honey
  2. 2 tbsp soy sauce

Glazed Chicken Kebabs and Does Your Word Build You Up?

A tongue has no bones but it is strong enough to break a heart. Be careful with your words

What the heck! Ooopss! Did you just catch me saying a bad word? Heck, is it a bad word? I am actually very averse of bad words spoken. The people who say them are not bad but somehow it is their way of expressing themselves.  I believe that we have to express ourselves freely but we have to be careful on what words come out from our mouths.

Be careful with your words. Once they are said, they can only be forgiven, not forgotten.

When my son was little, I was so mad at him that I said  he is stupid. He reacted so pitifully and he said, you just called me stupid and he hysterically cried. Writing this right now, just made me cringe on how awful I felt that day.How careless I was. Although I can justify the emotion that I felt that time, I cannot justify the " name" that I called him. That was the first and that was the last. It took me a while to undo the words that I have spoken. In fact, right now I am still making it up.

A lot  parents just casually call their children  names, as if it is normal. If you do, please stop it right now. Also, they utter words that curses. And even blasphemy.

Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain.

Because words are powerful, it can break or make a person. Much worse, it can break the person who had spoken them - through karma. The Bible said, You will reap what you sow. This apply in all our daily dealings like work, relationship and our words. have you ever noticed that when you say kind words, the other party cannot help but respond to you kindly? But when you are mean, the other party will be defensive? To be honest, when I hear a person spew out bad words, I pretty much conclude that, that person does not have enough vocabulary to express himself aside from curses. For me, if one wants to be cool, he/she should have enough words other than bad words to express himself, right?

Below are the collection of verses regarding the power of words.

Matthew 15:18 - But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man.

Proverbs 18:21 - Death and life [are] in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.

Proverbs 16:24 - Pleasant words [are as] an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.

Kind words can be short and easy to speak but their echos are truly endless

Cauliflower Soup Recipe and What Are Your Principles

What is the point of being alive if you do not at least do something remarkable.

Cauliflower Soup with Basil leaves

I am getting into the fourth month in this blog and I have not shared something very important to me. It doesn't   need a lot of words to explain it, but this has been my pillar and  my compass. Everything around me changes but these remain the same

It is impossible for us to break the law. We can only break ourselves against the law.

Cecile Demille

Recipe for Purple Cauliflower

Sure, I swayed from them so many times, disobeyed and found them difficult to follow, but these have been my reference point when I make decisions and when I am in doubt on  how to behave in certain circumstances. These have been my gauge whether I am doing well or wrong in my life's journey. These are my principles.
Delicious Cauliflower Soup

Principles are very important. Without them, we will just be walking in our life's journey without direction; and are often affected by circumstances. Eventually, we will become a person without character. Whether our principles are good or bad, they will certainly shape us. Below are my principles :

THE TEN COMMANDMENTS:

  1. Thou shall have not other gods before me.
  2. Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven images.
  3. Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord in vain
  4. Remember the sabbath day to keep it holy
  5. Honor thy father and thy mother
  6. Thou shalt not kill
  7. Thou shalt not commit adultery
  8. Thou shalt not steal
  9. Thous shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor
  10. Thou shalt not covet anything that is thy neighbor
I am pretty much a very sensitive person and I get easily sad or I call it depressed. For this reason, I have collection of words of wisdom that carry me through the bad days. I want to share it to you from here

How about you? What is/are your principle? Please list them in the comment section. Thanks!

Today, I made a one of a kind soup. It is black in color. I did not really intend this to become black as this, but it did. I did not mind, because the color added character to its look. And the taste does not disappoint either. This is tasty and delicious. Aside from its health benefit, don't you think it looks pretty too? In the photo, I added sesame seeds, basil and mascarpone cheese but they are optional. You can skip those. You can replace avocado for mascarpone to really make it healthier. This is almost similar to Spinach Soup

Cauliflower Soup

1 head purple cauliflower
3 cups Almond Milk Vanilla Flavor
1/2 cup Basil Leaves
1 1/2 cup water

Serve with sour cream or mascarpone. I just used mascarpone, since I have some left when I made Sponge Cake.
Replace sour cream with avocado for healthier option then add in some basil leaves.

Clean and cut cauliflower into small pieces. remove stem.
Place ingredients 1 to 3 in a large saucepan. Bring to a boil until cauliflower  is soft. Around 30 minutes. Add in water. And boil some more for 5 more minutes
Place in a blender and blend until mixture is totally blended.

NOTES:
Garnish with Basil, Mascapone cheese/ avocado and rye bread. Serve immediately
